Marvin
H. Schaefer has been one of the most
respected names in the inspection profession since the home inspection
profession was still in its infancy. Over twenty five years ago Marvin
and his son Bruce recognized the growing need for homebuyers to have a
means of protecting themselves from the risks associated with purchasing
a home. In 1981 Schaefer's Inspection Service was born. Marvin
graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1949, and became
involved in the construction industry in the late 1950s. His
construction experience includes custom built residential homes,
remodeling, shopping centers and other commercial buildings.
Shortly after Marvin and Bruce entered the inspection profession, they
joined ASHI (The American Society of Home Inspectors). Marvin was
the Educational Chairman of the Southern New England Chapter of ASHI
since its inception in the early 1980's until the late 1990's. Marvin
has received a number of awards for his work from the local chapter of
the American Society of Home Inspectors including the Ron Passaro Award.
Marvin's professionalism and expertise put him in demand. Marvin has
taught in local real estate schools in Greenwich, New Haven and the
shoreline area for a number of years. He has been a guest lecturer
at local colleges and is the president of Marvin H. Schaefer Inspection
Service, Inc. Marvin is now retired from active inspections but is still
involved with the daily operations of the company. Marvin continues to
pass down his knowledge, expertise and professionalism to all Schaefer
inspectors.

Bruce D. Schaefer
originated the idea of founding the
Marvin H. Schaefer Inspection Service, Inc. He is a 1977 graduate of
Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Since his graduation he has
been involved in the construction industry along with his father. He
developed land and constructed both residential and commercial
condominium type units. Bruce is a member of the New Haven chapter
of the National Association of Building Contractors. Bruce served as
president of that organization and was selected as Builder of the Year.
He has been in the inspection profession with his father since 1981.
Bruce is a licensed home inspector in Connecticut, has a supervisor
license for wood destroying insects and is a "Certified ASHI
Inspector." Bruce has earned NRSB (National Radon
Safety Board)
certification for radon testing and can be found listed on the CT Dept.
of Public Health's web site as a certified radon tester. His expertise has put him
in demand, he is approved to teach continuing educational courses in
local real estate schools in the New Haven area, he has been asked to
train realtors in local real estate offices and has participated in
training classes for new homebuyers. Comments like this are not

Tom Tussing
had a 15 year history of construction
experience including supervisory positions before becoming a home
inspector. His experience spans residential homes, condos,
remodeling and commercial projects. Tom made the transition from
construction supervisor to home inspections in 1993 and has been with
Schaefer since 1995. He is one of Schaefer's senior inspectors.
Tom is a licensed home inspector in Connecticut. He is a "Certified
ASHI
Inspector," and is the current Vice President of the Southern New
England Chapter of ASHI. Tom has a supervisor license for wood destroying
insects. Tom has earned NEHA (National Environmental Health Association)
certification for radon testing under the
National Radon
Proficiency Program (NRPP) and
can be found listed on the CT Dept. of Public Health's web site as a
certified radon tester. He is also listed on the CT. Dept. of Public
Health's radon program's web site as a radon measurement trainer for
home inspectors. Tom's expertise has put him in demand.
He teaches continuing educational courses for local real estate schools
and has been asked by large Connecticut real estate corporate offices to
train their new realtors in understanding the inspection process.
Tom is also often asked to come and teach home inspection related issues
to realtors in local real estate
offices .

Tom Begg is a graduate of the
University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
Following his university education, Tom entered the home remodeling
business. This experience included framing, remolding,
construction of decks and porches as well as renovating antique homes.
Tom became a home inspector in 1997. He is licensed in Connecticut
for home inspections and
is one of Schaefer's senior inspectors. Tom has a

Ken McCann
entered the Connecticut State University and
earned a B.S. He comes from a background of 25 years of carpentry
and home improvement experience. Ken is a licensed home inspector in
Connecticut and has been performing home inspections for over seven
years and is one of Schaefer's senior inspectors. Ken is listed on

training.

comes from a significant background in
construction. Anthony's experience in constructions spans
commercial, residential, remodeling and restoration of historical homes.
Part of his construction experience included head carpenter for
commercial projects. Anthony is a licensed home inspector in
Connecticut and New York. He is listed on the CT Dept. of Public
Health's web site for completing radon testing training.

Arborio Aquino comes from a
construction background and is qualified under the State of CT

has had a love for construction since he was very young. In high school
he won an award for excellence in industrial arts. In his senior
year he entered a special program that initiated his construction
experience. For 17 years Bob worked as a carpenter and General
Contractor that involved every phase and aspect of residential building
with some light commercial experience as well. Bob has been
involved with the home inspection business for the last ten years and is
a licensed home inspector in Connecticut. Bob is listed on the CT Dept.

Skip Bligh
graduated from high school in 1968 and entered a
State Approved Tool and Die Apprenticeship program at Waterbury State
Tech. School for Engineering. After completing the program, Skip
re-employed with The Torrington Co. in the engineering sector as an
engineer. Over a 25 year period, Skip held positions as Design
Engineer, Production Controller, Forman and buyer. Skip always had
and interest in building and construction. He worked on the side
restoring kitchens and baths. This led to Skip starting his own
remolding company. Skip is a licensed home inspector in
Connecticut and New York. He holds an Operator;s license for wood
